The Art of Being Alive
“How do I create a beautiful art?” I asked.
“Well, there are several ways in doing so. You can get inspiration from the things you love, or even from your daily life — your routine, how you live.”
“But I'm not living, I'm just.... alive.” I whispered.
“Well, to continue being alive is also an art.”
That conversation stuck with me. For days, I pondered those words. The idea that simply being alive could be an art form was both intriguing and unsettling. I always thought of art as something you make with paint or music, something you look at or listen to. But this idea was different.
Can my life be really a form of art?
I guess so. That’s why I started to look at my days differently. The sunlight coming through my window in the morning wasn’t just light; it was beautiful, like a gentle reminder that every day starts fresh. Walking to work wasn’t just about getting somewhere; it became a chance to notice things I usually ignored— the sound of leaves in the wind, birds singing, flowers blooming, and more. The little things started to feel important, like they were part of a bigger picture.
Talking to people felt different too. I paid more attention, listened more closely, and found that even simple conversations had more meaning. Smiling at someone or sharing a laugh became special moments, like adding bright colors to a painting. Even when I was alone, I found peace in the quiet.
I also began to see my feelings in a new way. Good days and bad days, happiness and sadness—all of it mattered. They were like different shades in a painting, each adding something important. I learned to accept my mistakes and keep going, understanding that every challenge was helping me grow.
I noticed that even the most routine tasks could have a touch of grace. Making breakfast, washing dishes, or folding laundry—each could be done with care, turning the mundane into something meaningful. I realized it was about being present in the moment, appreciating the process, and finding joy in the simple acts of daily life.
The art of being alive means embracing all parts of life. It is to find beauty in the mundane, and to celebrate the extraordinary.
It is to love fiercely, to forgive generously, and to exist authentically. It is to dance in the rain, to marvel at the stars, and to find peace in the stillness of a quiet moment.
“Have you already figured out how to make an art?”
“Yes, I did.”
I figured out that in order to make a beautiful art — perhaps, to live a beautiful life, we must see the beauty in our own lives and know that every day was a new chance to add it to our personal artwork.
